AGRA

The Association of Genealogists & Researchers in Archives (AGRA) is the professional organisation promoting high professional standards in the field of genealogy and historical research in England & Wales.

AGRA is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2018; it was founded in 1968 as the Association of Genealogists & Record Agents as a means of establishing standards of competence and ethics and to be a representative body. Our inaugural meeting was held on 24 June 1968 at Stationers’ Hall, London, when 21 people attended.

The Association is now the largest professional organisation of accredited members in the UK and continues the founding principles of promoting high professional standards in the field of genealogy and historical research and also acting as a representative voice in matters relating to genealogy.

The celebrations of our 50th anniversary will culminate with the Saturday banquet/drinks reception at the Secret Lives Conference on 1 September 2018.

AGRA’s ethos for its anniversary year is to respect our history, value our present and anticipate our future!
